Jul 9: The Host....and "it's Daejeon"

[It's Daejeon" is the brand slogan of Daejeon, developed as a means of implementing the city's management strategy in the face of the 21st Century, an era marked by the competition of images, going beyond the international competition era. This slogan was developed to build the image of Daejeon, centered on culture, economy and science, as a brand and to increase the awareness of the city by differentiating it against other cities.]

-2002, Daejeon Metropolitan City

Daejeon was described by our friends as a "quiet city." (Kind of like Seattle and Denver.) Yet, Daejeon is growing with a current population over 1,440,000. Definitely a college town with some of the best technology and science universities in Korea. However, Daejeon is a transition city more than anything. The biggest age populations are under 20 and above 55.

Clips from the movie

Today was Korean Cinema for our last activity and I assumed that we would a contemporary drama. However, to feed my need for violence and sarcastic wit, we saw Joon Ho-Bong's "THE HOST." Now, if you are fan of such movies as "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Shawn of the Dead", I would definitely recommend this film. You can read the review here on Rotten Tomatoes.com.
