why does everything have to be so cute in Korea...
The wedding bells sounded off today around 1pm. On the twelfth floor was a whole traditional Korean wedding laid out. Not only we were going to learn traditional manners but a wedding recital was on the agenda as well. I was picked as the groom and Ana (Russia) was selected to be the bride. Our new friends became in-laws and we ready to roll.

so blue...
In a traditional Korean wedding, traditional dishes such as rice cakes and meat preserves are served with herbal teas. One of the most important symbols are the male and female ducks. According to Korean tradition, ducks mate only once in a lifetime- even after death of a partner the duck would not mate ever again. So my family and I presented a sculpted wooden male duck Ana's family presented its female counterpart.

my mother (in green/yellow, to the left of me) was drunk, apparently me getting married got to her...

my wife Ana, I've just learned her name today, so we're set...
Also, in a traditional Korean wedding, the parents give their last words advise before the couple becomes officially married. My mother wailed in front of everybody "My son, nooooooo!" and in Russian why I was too young to get married. But it was my wedding so I went through it.
this like the 117th bow...only 73 more...

After being hitched, both families participated in a traditional tea ceremony. First, we greet each other through several bows to acknowledge visitors. Second, in prepping the tea. Hot water is poured in a trading serving bowl. Tea leaves are placed dry in the tea pot. Third step is the hot water serving bowl is poured into the tea pot. Wait 3 minutes. The tea concoction is then poured back into the serving bowl to eliminate leaves being in the final drink. Guests are served first.
The proper way to drink is left hand under cup flat, right hand holds the cup, then tilt slowly and drink.
